Dr Kathleeya Stang-Veldhouse is a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialist training in oculoplastic, lacrimal, and reconstructive surgery. She completed a dual-major Bachelor of Arts degree in biological sciences and psychology (neuroscience specialisation) at the University of Chicago, achieving placement on the Deans List from 1999-2001. Kathleeya received the University of Michigan Deans Award Scholarship while working towards a Masters of Public Health degree in health management and policy. She graduated from Rush Medical College in 2007, followed by an internal medicine internship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and ophthalmology training at the University of North Carolina. In 2012 Kathleeya completed her clinical research fellowship at the University of Auckland in oculoplastic surgery. She then received her diploma in cosmetic medicine and was presented with the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine Dr Ralph Saxe Outstanding Trainee Award in 2018. Kathleeya serves as a senior ophthalmology consultant for Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai, a clinical lead for the Acute Eye Service at Greenlane Clinical Centre, and Honorary Senior Lecturer for the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Auckland School of Medicine.
She has recently completed a Masters of Science degree at the University of Auckland. Her project title was: Ocular Prosthetic Dynamics & Influences: MRI Cinemography with Eye-movement Tracking.
